columbia cemetery
Located at 9th and College St. this 11 acre cemetery is an effective “Who’s Who” of early Boulder. The cemetery acts as a significant historical, cultural, and artistic collection holding the remnants of many of the city’s founders and innovators. Sadly, the historic landmark of Boulder Colorado, Columbia cemetery, has slipped into some disrepair in recent years. Since its establishment in 1870 many headstones have fallen over or suffered damage due to vandalism. The new structure provides on site housing of the damaged stones, which have previously been stored off location, and a place for local volunteers to restore them and the cemetery

Because Columbia Cemetery is a Landmark in the city of Boulder and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the final design required the approval of the City Landmark’s Board Design Review Committee, as well as the State Historical Fund of the Colorado Historical Society.
